Horrendous chemical/burning odor that is present while on or off and hasn't dissipated after 18 days of continual use. I'm incredibly disappointed to see similar reviews proved to be true. Did I get a bad batch? I'm not willing to take the risk with a replacement, defective products tend to come in pallets. No thank you, no, Honeywell, you can't make this right. I also am not paying shipping to send it to your factory for a replacement.
Honestly made my asthma worse, this was supposed to help me with cigarette smokers in and around my apartment complex, unfortunately it had the opposite effect, it was as if there was some sort of chemical spill burning. My neighbor below me even smelled it. HORRENDOUS! Took me 18 days to figure out it was the purifier. Sad. I spent a great deal of time researching units and this is just a terrible let down.
This thing would cost a fortune to send to back to Honeywell in order for them to honor their 5 year defect warranty, by the way, that warranty doesn't cover break downs from regular usage, what kind of warranty is that? No wonder it's 5 years, only for manufacturer defect, don't be fooled. Especially when you're left holding the bag for a 50 dollar shipping fee.

After reading all the reviews, the #1 complaint everyone had was that you couldn’t purchase PRECUT Filters to fit on the Honeywell air purifier HPA100 or 200 or 300. When you actually order them they are not pre-cut so everybody hates to have to measure and cut them themselves .
I worked very diligently finding them precut .
You can purchase them from Amazon ... just type in VEVA advanced filters.
You will see the precut pre-filter for your Honeywell HPA 100 . That same pre-filter fits for the 200 and 300 series also .
And Honeywell does not to make the pre-cut pre-filter’s for the HPA 100 to 200 and 300 series .
But still continue buying your Honeywell HEPA replacement filter R.
So now I have informed everybody where to purchase their pre-cut pre-filter for the HPA 100 to 200 and 300 series. You will be so happy with this purchase. I just put my pre filter in.... it fits perfectly!!!! I am very happy with my purchase and you will also be happy too 😃

The setup instructions are easy. Took everything out of their individual plastic wrap and installed ... and nothing. Light comes on, but no noise and no air flow. Not even when I press the Turbo button. I've tried calling Honeywell 5x -- 3x to their partner company "Kaz" and 2x to Honeywell. First two calls to Kaz = over 40 mins on hold and NO ONE ever answered. I hate that hold music! I called Honeywell to ask for their help. The agent said, "Sorry, you have to call Kaz. I can't help you." So I tried Kaz one more time. Over 32 minutes on hold, I called Honeywell and had to ask for a supervisor (because the 2nd Honeywell agent said, "I can't help you.") and the supervisor is supposed to get Kaz to call me back to troubleshoot and/or do an exchange for one that works. Will update this review as this fiasco develops, but I'm regretting this purchase right now, over 70+ mins on hold later!
**Update** The story just continues to go from bad to worse. The Honewell supervisor called me back, only to say, "Yes, you're right. The wait time is long, and I never was able to get in contact with Kaz before they closed for the day. I'm sorry." Unfortunately for her, I'd done a bit more research on Kaz since then. I asked who actually made the unit; Kaz or Honeywell? Come to find out, Kaz not only supports this purifier; it's also the manufacturer! That's right! *UPDATE 01/18/2020* After almost 4 years of continuing use of my Honeywell Hepa Air Purifiers they are still going strong! I now have 3 of these amazing machines, having replaced all three of my round Honeywell air filters. With regular maintenance and filter changes these air purifiers still do an excellent job of filtering the air in my home. I still have two cats in my home and my asthma has gotten a bit worse with age, but these Honeywell Hepa Air Filters still do an incredible job! The replacement filters are reasonably priced and the machines still maintain a virtually silent operation in the lowest setting. To sum up, 4 years later I am still very pleased with my purchase. My chronic allergies and sinusitis have required that I use HEPA air filters in every room of my home. Over the past 20 years I have owned many different units, almost all of them were manufactured by Honeywell. While all had the same basic functions and worked quite well, this unit is by far the best and quietest air filter that I have ever owned. Consumer Reports rates this air filter very high and with good reason, because it's the best and most affordable unit on the market to date. The unit is very simple and offers double filtration, the extra thick charcoal filter is first, followed by the extra thick HEPA filter. The air is pulled in from the front of the unit where it goes through both filters and then comes out from an air grate on the top of the unit just behind the controls. This makes it a great space saver that can be placed almost anywhere, especially against a wall. There are 4 levels of filtration, #1) GERM, #2) GENERAL CLEAN #3) ALLERGEN and #4) TURBO.
The 1st level GERM is virtually silent, I've never owned an air filter that is this quiet - it is the perfect level to use while watching a movie. #2) is a pleasant white noise that is barely audible and offers a great amount of filtration. The 3rd and 4th levels offer superior air flow and are so much quieter than my other Honeywell filters. While I still own multiple Honeywell filters and use them daily throughout my home, I will be replacing them with this unit as my budget allows. In searching for this air filter I looked very closely at comparable units priced as high as $600.- I was searching for an air filter that offered great filtration, but was also quiet so I could use it daily in my home theater room. After looking at almost 20 different units and brands in the $200-$600 price range, checking Consumer Reports as well as the Amazon consumer feedback I was won over by this Honeywell unit because of the price, the basic method of filtration, the very cool control panel, the fact that I could place the unit against a wall, the convenient size of the unit, and finally my positive experience over the past 20 years with Honeywell products. We have two dogs and my wife that has allergies with dust. Getting the Honeywell air purifier has eliminated all dog smell and my wife has not been congested or has had issues with her allergies. I would recommend this air purifier to anyone with allergies or smells in their home. Also for noise levels, it is very quiet and hasn’t bothered our sleep at all.

Before purchasing n air purifier, I extensively researched various brands. I decided on Honeywell due to its excellent reputation and the fact that it was one of very few brands that are manufactured to be ozone-free. The air purifier arrived within the estimated delivery time and was well-packed. The set-up and operational instruction plans were easy to follow. I have only had the air purifier for about a week, , and so far I am very pleased with it. It appears to be an excellent product which I would have no hesitation in recommending to others.

This product was sold to me in Australia through amazon.com.au so it should be up to Australian standards. This product is only for the American market 120v not the Australian 240v. Soon as I plugged in it broke and I threw it away. If you’re selling things to Australians through a Australian site then amazon has to verify these things.
